The Lure of White Oak Lake White Oak Series Book 1 edition by Robin Alexander Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I laughed so hard reading this book. It didn't matter where I was I just couldn't help it. I got plenty of people starring at me like I was as crazy as Clarice lol. The characters in this book are hilarious. Like other readers I would love to meet them. The story of Morgan and Jaclyn is one of self-examination, learning to let go, and opening up for the possibility of love. It's a very touching story and this small town crowd will make you fall in love too. Enjoy!
I loved this novel. Robin Alexander has done it again this story is both entertaining and laugh out loud funny at times. Morgan loses her Dad, her job and her girlfriend, not to funny yet huh. She moves to White Oak Lake to a cabin her Father left her in his will. Now you need to pick up the book or whichever you prefer and start reading. I am on my way to read the next White Oak novel.
This story was a very heartwarming love story between two women unlikely to fall in love. The author painted a clear picture of the small Louisiana town the story takes place in, as well as of the two women and all of the town's characters - and they ARE characters. I laughed out loud more than once at their antics. I especially loved the relationship between the main character's son and her girlfriend. It was true to life and very touching. I recommended this to my partner immediately upon finishing it and she loved it too.
My,my,my. Ms. Alexander,I do declare. You have outdone yourself with this one.
If you've had a crappy day or week, and need a little lift, then this is the story for you.
This is a gentle love story, set in the heart of Louisiana bayou country, in the tiny town of White Oak Lake. It's populated by some pretty memorable characters who get into some mighty funny situations. I kept rooting for the two main characters in their quest to find happiness, in spite of all the shenanigans.
The only thing I didn't like, was that the book had to end. I wanted my stay in White Oak Lake to continue.
I was skeptical of the raving reviews that this book received. However, I just finished it and I too am a fan.
I absolutely loved the relationship that Morgan formed with Jacylyns son, Austin a 14 year old that was also very funny but respectful. And of course the love story between Morgan and Jacyln was sweet, romantic, and a breath of fresh air.
Besides the love story, the book made me laugh out loud many times and I still have a smile on my face just thinking about it. Very funny! Highly recommended.
It really doesn’t matter that I’ve read this book 6 times -it’s always fun to go back and visit. I’ve become good friends with these cherished characters. I still laugh out loud, and still want to take a vacation to this magical place.
Reading this book was like being told a story by a friend. I cannot describe it any other way as simply easy going, enjoyable, and full of laugh out loud moments. Finished it the same night I brought it. Robin Alexander has a way of writing that makes you feel like you're right there in the story experiencing everything the characters are. The story just felt like family, it's not very long, but the author didn't have the main characters fall instantly in love, she made it build a bit. The three "hens" are hilarious, and even though some would call this a "predictable" read, the way Alexander tells the story is unique. The first book I read of hers was "Pitifully Ugly," another good one from her. I recommend this because it's a nice, easy going read.
